#2 Coffee rituals: Treat yourself to a meditative experience of preparing filtered coffee

An alternative way of preparing coffee that will become your favourite ritual. The aroma of freshly ground coffee that „blooms“ in the Hario V60 dripper is underlined by its deliciously fine texture and pure taste. An ideal start to the day or an afternoon break. We will show you how easy it is to prepare filtered coffee Hario V60.

The Hario V60 has elevated coffee making to an art form, where the emphasis is on the quality of the coffee and the enjoyment of the preparing process itself. The V60 promotes a slower, more thoughtful approach to coffee that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of modern life.

We need:

∙ Hario V60 dripper
∙ filter papers V60
∙ 15 g of medium-ground light roasted selected coffee

Instructions:

1st step

Place the dripper on the glass and insert the filter paper. Rinse it with hot water to get rid of any papery taste.

2nd step

Add freshly ground coffee to the dripper. The coffee is poured at least twice. The first infusion should moisten it all. Pour the water with a temperature of 93 °C in slow, circular movements and let it „rest“ for about 35 seconds. This part of the extraction is called blooming. You remove excess air from the coffee and ensure its perfect distribution in the filter paper and equipment.

3rd step

After 35 seconds, the coffee is ready for the second refill, again with circular movements, until you reach approx. 220 to 250 ml in the cup. The entire ritual should last three to three and a half minutes.

TIP: Filtered coffee differs from espresso by a higher ratio of water to coffee. This completely changes the drinking experience. Espresso is a strong, concentrated drink. However, it is not stronger in caffeine content than filtered coffee. The latter is lighter and more diluted, so it represents a gentler way to enjoy coffee. We recommend drinking it pure, without milk.
