SOLA cutlery is made from high-quality stainless steel.
Where can I buy SOLA
products?
SOLA products can be purchased directly from the SOLA Point store at the
headquarters of SOLA Switzerland, Seetalstrasse 39 in Emmen (Lucerne),
Switzerland. However, SOLA products can also be easily purchased through the

What are the main differences between the various cutlery lines? Only
in design or also in quality and materials?
The differences between the various cutlery lines are both qualitative and in
design. The company Sola produces 5 cutlery lines that differ in shape as well
as functionality.
- Platinum Line: luxurious cutlery with hollow handles
- Premium Line: high-quality forged cutlery with a focus on detail
- 7th Generation: a unique cutlery line created through the combination of different handle decorations

Can SOLA cutlery be washed in the dishwasher?
To preserve all the material properties of the cutlery for as long as possible,
we recommend washing it by hand. Unless otherwise indicated, SOLA cutlery can be
washed in the dishwasher.
How should I properly care for my cutlery?
SOLA Switzerland recommends following these cutlery care tips:
- Rinse immediately after use with hot water to prevent chemical reactions caused by salt or acids.
- Wash before first use and then after each use.
- Do not leave in water overnight, as mineral salts can attack the metal surface.
- Store stainless steel and silver cutlery separately.
- When washing in the dishwasher, wash knives separately from the rest of the cutlery.
- Load the spoon bowls and fork tines facing upward in the dishwasher to ensure the best possible wash.
- Remove the cutlery immediately after the washing cycle and dry. Pay special attention to the knife blades.
- Never leave the cutlery in a closed, damp dishwasher.
- Always follow the instructions of the dishwasher and cleaning product manufacturers.
Can wooden products be washed in the dishwasher?
Wooden products are generally not dishwasher safe. Products made of glued parts
can break apart in the dishwasher.
How can I sharpen SOLA knives?
SOLA chef's knives can be sharpened with an electric knife sharpener, as well
as with a sharpening stone or honing steel.
What is the difference between the designation CR and
CNS?
The difference between CR and CNS lies in the corrosion resistance of the
materials. The designation CNS represents stainless steel of the highest quality
in which nickel and other substances are present in small quantities. Due to the
lack of nickel, CR is harder but less resistant to corrosion.
What do the markings 18/10 and 18/0
mean?
When we look at cutlery in terms of its corrosion resistance, the numbers 18/10
and 18/0 indicate the ratio of chromium and nickel content in the steel alloy
from which the cutlery is made. The designation 18/0 means that the alloy
contains 18% chrome and 0% nickel. 18/10 is the designation for the content of
18% chromium and 10% nickel in the steel alloy. Although the nickel content in
the alloy makes the steel softer, it is of better quality and more resistant to
corrosion. Nickel-free cutlery is harder in the alloy but less resistant to
corrosion.
Can the cutlery rust?
Although all Sola cutlery is made of stainless steel, this does not mean that it
cannot corrode. Corrosion most often occurs due to incorrect washing, or storage
in a humid environment.
Is it possible to recycle cutlery?
Sola Switzerland complies with all general eco-standards, such as:
- Product recycling
- Rational management of natural resources
- Compliance with the strict emission criteria of our own factories (ISO
certificates)
Sola cutlery can be recycled as part of our own product recycling.
Do you also offer aluminium
cutlery?
No. Sola Switzerland does not sell aluminium cutlery.
